I've been blogging and tweeting for over a year, and a member of a few message boards that have connected me with some truly awesome women. I have made some very close friendships, faithfully followed blogs and stalked Twitter timelines, of some of these ladies for well over two years, and I am finally getting the chance to meet a bunch of them.
There are some friends that know me better than my real life friends, who have talked to me at my happiest and lowest points. I texted pictures of minutes old Marley to some of them, chatted on the phone for hours, Skyped, Tweeted, emailed, Facebooked and sent gifts to. Am I nervous? Heck yes, but I am so stoked to be able to give massive hugs to these people whom I have come to love so much.
I understand that it is hard for some people to understand the friendships that one can form online, I guess it's a very new concept and online relationships have a bad stigma, but this is a new age. When you open yourself by starting a blog and Tweeting, you are bound to get some feedback and make connections with people. You find blogs you enjoy, read stories that inspire and touch you and start to feel like you know the author and in some cases you reach out and form a bond.
I am absolutely thrilled to meet up with friends, and completely ready to sit in on seminars that will kindle the creative fire inside me and motivate me to put more into my writing. I have a lot to give the blogging community, I know it. I love writing, connecting, helping, and basically word vomiting (nice visual huh?). Writing has always been a major outlet for me, I just need to focus and get over my fears of putting myself out there too much.
So, bring it on BlogHer. I am ready to squish my friends (seriously, get ready for a lot of hugs), be inspired, learn and have fun.
