Marley is 21 months old (OMG SHES ALMOST TWO) and thank all the powers that be, she is almost done teething. You know, the never ending torture our children go through for what seems like forever? I shall do a celebratory dance the very day that is done, but I digress.
Anywho, Marley currently has her 'two year molars' coming in and my foodie toddler who will usually eat anything and everything, all day/every day wants NOTHING to do with food. In the past when she has a tooth about to erupt through she goes on a bit of a food strike, but manages to graze throughout the day. Well, not so much these days. I am lucky if I can get a handful of raspberries and some crackers into her some days. I have even tried resorting to 'bad' food, such as macaroni (seriously, she can eat a box to herself if I let her) and french fries. Nada, or at least close to it.
I'm not worrying about it too much because I know it goes hand in hand with this teething junk, and if she was really hungry she will eat. Marley is a little peanut weighing in at 25.5lbs, but hitting all of her milestones early and is happy and content (most of the time), so my pediatrician has assured me it's nothing to worry about yet. I get nervous because I worked hard to introduce her to a wide variety of foods from a young age, we did baby led weaning and I made all of her baby food. I grew up very a very picky eater and I am determined to do as much as I can to make sure Marley is not this way. The girl has a great palate for good food, you should see her inhale a steak, makes Daddy proud.
So I will try not to worry, and I am continuing to introduce new foods to her, full steam ahead. Teething will not beat me on this one, I will not be discouraged.

| GOOD MORNING WORLD! |
 |
| Ugh, I have to eat? |
 |
| Ok, maybe a bite. |
 |
| I'd rather just play with it |
 |
| Noooooo I won't eat! |
 |
| Na na na na na na! No food for me. |
we went through a major hunger strike last week. it's amazing how the littlest things can set off a span of not eating. with audrey, i think it was because as soon as we all got home from work, we started on dinner & ate it...we didn't really take any time to relax or play with her. i would NEVER have thought something like that would cause her not to eat, but now that we have recognized it, it's so much better.
ReplyDeleteit will get better. they can't starve themselves forever ;)
